Pregnancy and Chiropractic
Over the last decade Dr. Robert Cocks has perfected safe, gentle, and highly effective adjusting techniques and corrective methods for the pregnant patient. We do not use electric devices with pregnant patients, so to achieve the very best results we also use different techniques (that may feel similar to massage and stretching) with each patient.
We understand the special needs of a pregnant woman. That is why it is only a few steps from our designated expecting mother’s parking into the office and into a private room with a table designed to adjust for a pregnant woman’s body comfortably. The table slowly lowers you down, which increases the accuracy of technique protocols for pregnant patients, and can be changed to accommodate a growing belly. Sometimes high-quality memory foam pillows may be used as well. Every pregnant patient has unique needs, so the treatment experience for one patient may be different than that of another patient.
Our advanced care (and certified Webster technique) may provide many benefits for a woman who is pregnant. Some of these benefits may include; maintaining a healthier pregnancy, a more comfortable and shorter labor and delivery, controlling symptoms of nausea and elimination, as well as relief of low back pain (dull, sharp, or severe), leg pain, headaches, neck pain, pelvic pain, cramping, and more!
After pregnancy, hormones which help loosen the ligaments attached to the pelvic bones are still increased. Thus, treatment at this time is likely to make positive health changes in a shorter time period. Some of the benefits of our care after pregnancy may include relief of headaches, neck, low back, and pelvic pain, muscle and rib discomfort, and more!

Dr. Cocks offers a complimentary check-up for newborns of existing patients. He does this because children need to be checked as soon as possible. The birthing process has proven to be a very traumatic experience at times, especially to the cervical spine (neck). During a natural vaginal delivery, the baby's neck can be stretched up to twice its normal length. Up to 120 lbs. of pressure can be exerted on the baby's neck from a doctor. Subluxations can start right there! During the first 18 months of life, the very important curves in the spine are developed. This is an important time to get children checked.
